Thermal Spirit Master Unit has 4 parts.

1. Top layer is white. This is the layer that your image will be transfered onto.
2. Second Layer is not bound and is a milky white. Typically this layer is thrown away.
3. Third Layer is the Carbon (purple/blue paper). By pressing on this layer the purple/blue coating is transfered to the upper sheet.
4. Fourth bottom sheet is yellow and holds the original in place when using a stencil copy machine.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THERMAL SPIRIT MASTER UNITS

A.Preparing the master

1. Inset any "faxable" original copy,face up.between the polyester carbon sheet and the backing sheet,making sure the original is all the way to the perforation.
2. Remove interleaving tissue.
3. The unit is now ready for exposure in a thermal processing machine.

B. Exposing The Master

1. Set thermal processing machine initially at mid-range exposure level and adjust for optimum imaging quality.Sustained use of a thermal processing machine may require subsequent adjustments.
2. Insert thermal master unit into processing machine with stub edge first and master paper up.
3. Starting at a corner slowly peel master paper from carbon sheet. For best results separate as soon as possible.
4. Detach master paper from unit at the stub perforation.
5. The thermal master unit is now ready for duplicating.

Since all thermal processing machines are not identical, some machines may run hotter than others,causing an overexposed condition of the master.This condition can be corrected by using a clear or blue thermal carrier designed specifically to reduce the heat of the processing machine.This will allow a greater range of speed/head control.

FOLLOW THERMALPROCESSOR MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED MACHINE CLEANING PROCEDURES.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TYPE ON SPIRIT MASTER UNITS

A. To Type A Master

1. Remove interleaving tissue and insert unit into typerwriter,master paper up.
2. Use either a light or medium pressure setting on electric typerwriter.
3. If platen is soft or unevenly worn,use a plastic backing sheet for a sharper result.

B. To Writer Or Draw On A Master

1. Place unit on a smooth but resilient surface and remove interleaving tissue.
2. Use a pencil with a fairly hard lead or,preferably,a ball point pen.
3. Use firm,even pressure.

C. To Make A Correction

1. Scrape off incorrect copy using a single-edged razer blade,avoiding damage to the finish of the master.Carefully dispose of all ink removed from the paper.-OR
2. Use correction tape over the area-OR
3. Use spirit correction fluid.
4. After the above, retype using a strip of unused carbon.
